A 22-month-old girl from San Leandro has been reunited with her mother after an Ambert Alert was issued for her on Thursday morning.
Authorities issued the Alert for Yosseline Carolina Meza, after her father took her in a car from the am-pm minimarket on Lander Avenue about 6:30 P.m. Wednesday.
Luis Meza Valdiva, 26, drove off with his daughter after an argument with the toddler’s mother whom he threatened with a knife, Alameda County Sheriff’s Sgt. J.D. Nelson said. He was later found at the home of an acquaintance on Westfield Avenue in Hayward.
“As we were setting up around the house, he came out into the backyard and was taken into custody,” Nelson said.
The girl was found safe inside the house.
The incident started Wednesday night when the three of them met at a Burger King in San Leandro. They drove away together in a white Toyota Camry and sometime along the way he got mad, threatened the ex-girlfriend with a knife and told her she would never see her daughter again, Nelson said.
The mother however convinced Valdiva to stop at a gas station to use the bathroom but had to live her purse and the baby in the car. When she came back, the car was already gone.
