Quiet and amicable. This is how Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia’s divorce ended. The baseball star and his estranged wife have settled their multimillion-dollar divorce case.

“Cynthia and Alex Rodriguez have amicably resolved their dissolution of marriage proceedings,” legal representatives for the former couple said in a statement, PEOPLE reported. “They deliberately engaged in a private negotiation. During the negotiations and resolution all decisions were made with the best interests of their children as the paramount concern.”

A-Rod’s ex-spouse filed for divorce in July, citing her husband’s infidelity and saying that he “emotionally abandoned” her and their kids. In addition to this, Cynthia’s attorney said that the Yankees slugger, aged 33, was involved in a relationship with Madonna and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

In her divorce petition, Cynthia, aged 35, demanded ownership of the family’s $12 million property in Coral Gables, Fla., plus sufficient spousal and child support in order to maintain the “high standard of living” she and the girls Natasha, aged 3, and Ella, 5 months are used to.

Alex Rodriguez, on the other hand, asserted that he would only give his ex-wife what was stipulated in their prenup and threatened to make her cover his legal costs if she challenged the agreement and lost.

A-Rod’s lawyer, Alan Kluger, said his client and Cynthia Rodriguez considered the needs of their children when they reached a settlement. “All of their decisions were based upon and guided by the best interests of their daughters,” Kluger said.

The bad news is that another happy couple got divorced. The good news for A-Rod’s female fans is that he is free again.
