A-Rod Donates $500,000 to Madonna’s Charity to Help African Orphans

The friendship between Madonna and New York Yankees’ super star slugger Alex Rodriguez has been very fructuous for the celebrity-oriented journalists and Hollywood gossip publications. Fortunately, they aren’t the only one to profit from it. A-Rod has reportedly donated more than $500,000 to Raising Malawi, a charity co-founded by Madonna and Michael Berg which makes efforts to help nearly one million orphans from several African countries gains access to food, education and medical care.

According to a source close to the two celebrities, Madonna’s charity asked A-Rod to donate $ 1000,000. He said he would give at least $500,000, the New York Daily News reported quoting the source.

When asked about the donation, Raising Malawi director Philippe van den Bossche refused to give details arguing that who and how much donates are private matters and should remain that way. He also denied that the girls’ school Madonna plans to fund through the charity will include a set of courses that would teach Kabbalah.

The girls’ school will be based on the British system similar to private schools such as Lourdes and Rocco, schools which the Material Girl’s children are attending.

“We want programs that can be copied in developing countries throughout the world. Not just a celebrity one-off," van den Bossche said.

The information on the new form taken by the friendship between the two super stars comes about a month after widespread speculation that Madonna and Alex Rodriguez were involved in a romantic relationship. The speculation came on the background of A-Rod’s possibly very costly divorce from his wife Cynthia Rodriguez and stirred rumors that Madonna’s marriage to Guy Ritchie was also turning sour.

However, both Madonna and A-Rod denied the speculations, but only the pop music icon could say that she is happily married.
