After earlier this month we had a Bigfoot
drama, now a two year old feline has become quite famous since some pictures
showing his extra pair of ears were posted on Flickr by his owners.
Going by the name of Yoda, the strangely
looking cat was the hot topic on numerous websites the past week; even the
very popular Dlisted gossip blog dedicated some serious online space to the
unusual pet.
English photo agency Barcroft Media bought the
pictures of the cat and distributed them to British tabloids.
The owners said that ever since the pictures
were published they had been receiving lots of calls from shows such as Fox
News, Good Morning America or The Tyra Banks Show.
Ted Rock, the man of the family, said this
entire situation was amazing, as the phone had been turned red with appearance
requests.
Ted Rock and his wife Valerie told The Chicago
Tribune a little bit about the cat; when they found him in a bar, he was only
eight weeks old. He was being passed around from customer to customer in a sort
of local live animal show; some people in the bar were calling him devil cat or
Beelzebub. They both immediately fell in love with him and took the decision to
bring him home.
With all the publicity the cat has been
drawing his way, the couple has become quite worried someone could attempt to catnap
him so they decided to install a tracking microchip in one of his ears.
London's Daily Mail joked saying that if
Batman were to have a cat, it would probably have to look similar to Yoda.
Even if it sounds mysterious, apparently the
story of Yoda is not so unusual. A quick search with Google, it will land you
on a page dedicated to
this topic: cats with four ears.
Apparently, this is a genetic disorder reported
for the fist time in 1957.
