John Travolta and Kelly Preston posted a message on the Web on Sunday saying that they are in a lot of grief after last week’s death of their 16-year-old son, Jett. They also wanted to thank for everyone’s support and prayers after the terrible event which took place on Friday.
Jett Travolta died while the family was in vacation at their home in Bahamas. One of the house’s caretakers at the West End resort found the teenager lying on the bathroom floor and immediately sent him to the Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport by ambulance. Yet, because of the strong seizure he had suffered, he was pronounced death at the arrival.
His parents told in the Sunday statement that Jett “was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for.” They added that he used to lit everyone’s life in the family and that they will remain “heartbroken” because of the short time they had spent with him.
Michael Ossi, the family attorney, said that the autopsy for Jett will be performed on Monday. He added that the exact cause of death isn’t known for sure because the 16-year-old hit his head after he had had the seizure. After the autopsy, his body will be taken to Ocala, Florida, where he will be buried.
Preston told Montel Williams in 2003 that when Jett was 2 years old, he used to suffer flu symptoms, worsened by fever, rashes and swollen lymph nodes. The doctors then diagnosed him with Kawasaki disease. Both her and Travolta blamed the chemicals in household cleaners and pesticides, which they believed it attacked Jett’s immune system.
