Fernando Diaz Jr., 33 thought that shooting his ex-girlfriend and 2 other persons was a good way of expressing his anger.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the man was angry because he and his ex-girlfriend didn’t see eye to eye the on the custody of their child. So he decided to come at the child’s school in Granada Hills, Saturday, during a festival, and shoot people.

He managed to shoot his ex-girlfriend and two other persons with a 22-caliber rifle, before he was stopped by some of the bystanders. They held him until the police came.

Authorities said that the shooting began before the festival started.

Steven Ruiz, Los Angeles Police Department Capt., said that Diaz Jr. arrived at the festival and looked for his 9-year-old son, who attended the school, and his ex-girlfriend, who were, at the moment, near a booth in center field. Ruiz said that Diaz, who was carrying a tennis bag, walked up and hugged his son and, then, he pulled the rifle out of the tennis bag and aimed at his ex-girlfriend. He, then, started shooting and hit the woman and two others, reported the Los Angeles Times.

He is being held in custody at the LAPD Van Nuys station and his bail was set at $1.5-million.

The ex-girlfriend, 29, was shot in the arm, a 45-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 43-year-old man was shot in the chest. Their conditions were stable.

Police also said that Diaz was on parole for an unspecified crime and had a restraining order to keep him away from his son and ex-girlfriend.
