AT&T to Offer In-Home Services

AT&T announced that it had released a service that would provide people who want to benefit from it with technical support in installing or repairing PCs, TVs and home theaters. The new service is called ConnecTech and will enter a direct competition with Best Buy's Geek Squad.

If we look at what the company tells us, calling them for help whenever we experience a problem setting up home PCs or home theaters might in some cases lead to saving money, as the devices installed with the help of AT&T employees will be at a far smaller risk of crashing.

The move makes AT&T a player on the home repairs market, which the company evaluates as being a multi-billion dollars one. The guys over at AT&T announced that the service would be available to both AT&T customers and to people who have no relation with the company.

The service will be available in all 50 states, even though some areas do not have coverage, but AT&T will probably make the service available to people living in these areas later on. The company will use its employees in order to make the service available, but will also outsource some of its business to other companies.

This does however imply certain risks, since the image of AT&T might suffer if these outsourcing companies would not do their job properly.

ConnecTech will be available starting at around $70 for phone support and the fees could rise to more than $180 for in-home support.
