In summer, when Apple Inc. has
launched the ultimate smart phone called the iPhone everyone has gone just
crazy with joy and happiness. At that moment, the iPhone has seemed to really
be the smartest phone ever, despite its corpulence.
Still, the iPhone users have
quickly gone even crazier than in summer when they have found out all the nasty
little things about their brand new acquisition. Maybe the most irritating
problem of all with the iPhone has been the fact that it is locked in one
single network; when the developers have eventually offered a solution for
unlocking the phone, in just days Apple has launched the first software update
that has practically frozen the “altered” devices. This way, the developers
have had to start the work all over again.
However, another irritating
problem with the iPhone has always been represented by the fact that the users
have had to pay huge data bills after returning from international trips. In
some cases the bills have even reached $3000 or $4000, which represent enormous
amounts of money even for the rich people!
But it seems that the famous carrier
AT&T Inc. and Apple Inc., the iPhone’s maker, have eventually decided to do
something about this. AT&T Inc. has announced yesterday that a new
international data plan has been developed. It has been designed especially for
the iPhone users, who will now be able to use their ultimate gadgets in about
29 countries without having to pay the same huge data bills.
Through the new Data Global Plan
the iPhone customers will have access to 50 MB of data per month for checking
their email accounts’ inboxes, browsing the web or accessing other information
on the Internet. This new plan will cost an additional $59.99 a month, but it will
come only on top of a domestic voice and data iPhone plan.
If the users go over the limit of
50 MB of data per month while within one of the 29 approved countries, they
will be charged $5 per 1 MB. If they go over the limit while being outside of
this list of 29 approved countries, they will have to pay $10 per 1 MB. On the
other hand, AT&T Inc. will offer also a 20 MB plan for $24.99, which
addresses for the ones that are using this service less than others.
Among the 20 approved countries
covered by this plan one could find Canada,
Mexico, China and other countries from Asia and Europe.
So, it seems that eventually
things start to come to normal with the iPhone, so that no one could ever be
surprised why the “Time Magazine” has recently named the device the 2007
Invention of the Year.
