In anticipation of the CTIA 2009, AT&T Wireless said on Sunday that will soon launch two messaging-focused smartphones: the Nokia E71x and Samsung Propel Pro.
The announcement comes after the carrier announced four other new devices: the Samsung Impression, the Samsung Magnet, the LG Neon, and the LG Xenon.
The company no longer sees the smartphones and the quick messaging phones as devices destined to “early-adopters and text-happy teens.” More and more customers are demanding features such as checking e-mail and quick texting, said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets according to Fox Business.
The Nokia E71x is one of the thinnest smartphones out there and it features a black steel finish and a head-turning design. The device is based on S60 on Symbian OS. Its users can make full use of Wi Fi, Bluetooth, HSDPA support, a 3.2-megapixel camera and its Symbian-based applications. The device is just 10 millimeters (currently the thinnest smartphone on the market) thin and will cost $99.99 with a two-year contract and after discounts and rebates when it hits the shelves.

The Samsung Propel Pro is a full-QWERTY silver and chrome compact slider smartphone. It adds to the Samsung Propel the Windows Mobile 6.1 which means its users can use full enterprise applications. The device has integrated Wi-Fi and a 3-megapixel camera. It will hit the market on April 1 and will cast $149.99 with the standard contracts and rebates.
