AP: Amy Winehouse To Perform At Grammy Awards Via Satellite

Quoting an anonymous source close to the Grammy organizers, the Associated Press reports that Universal Music is working on a plan to have the British singer Amy Winehouse perform via satellite at the top U.S. music awards being held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Despite being nominated in six categories at this year’s Grammy Awards, the British singer Amy Winehouse will miss the ceremony, because the US Embassy has turned down her request for visa.

The 24-year-old soul singer received nominations for all four top categories: album of the year for "Back to Black," song of the year for “Rehab”, record of the year and best new artist.

In a press statement the Outside Organization, which represents Amy Winehouse, said the singer “although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery"

The singer checked in the Capio Nightingale clinic in north London on January 24, after a video of her smoking crack cocaine surfaced online.

The Grammy Awards will be held February 10 in Los Angeles' Staples Center; only albums released between October 1, 2006, and September 30, 2007, could be considered for this year's awards. The Grammys are determined by 12,000 music industry professionals who belongs to the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
