AC/DC’s latest album "Black Ice" is the No.1 of the Billboard chart with 784,000 copies sold. The album was produced by Columbia and released in an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart. According to Nielsen SoundScan, AC/DC’s “Black Ice” had the second-biggest sales week for an album this year behind Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III which sold in 1,006,000 million copies.
“Black Ice” is the AC/DC’s first album in eight years and its sales performance is even more impressive considering the fact that it has been selling only though Wal-Mart stores.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year had a great debut with 297,000 copies sold and it landed a No.2 spot. However, it is far behind its predecessor, the High School Musical 2 soundtrack, which sold in 615,000 copies in its first week.
T.I.'s Paper trail dropped a spot and is this week’s No.3, while Kenny Chesney's Lucky Old Sun, drops to #4. Metallica's Death Magnetic still has what it takes and it’s this week’s No. 5. It’s the Metallica album’s seventh week in the Top 5.
Kid Rock is 6th and at his 20th week in the Top 10 with Rock N Roll Jesus, while Mary Mary had a good debut at No. 7 with their latest album entitled The Sound. The album sold in 37,000 copies and it’s the group’s highest charting album.
Next in this week’s Billboard chart is Ne-Yo with his Year of the Gentlemen, while Jennifer Hudson continues to sell numerous copies of her self titled album on the background of the tragedy that she has been going through. The female artist, whose mother, brother and nephew were murdered, is this week’s No. 9.
The top 10 is completed by Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III.
