AC/DC Resists Online Music Distribution Trend

Instead of reeling musicians in, Apple’s Internet music store iTunes seems to be pushing away the truly heavy names of the music industry. One of the musicians who refused to sell his songs online as individual tracks was notorious Kid Rock.

He managed to strike a deal that met his requirements, selling the entire album for $10, while buying an individual track required a membership that started at $12.99 on Rhapsody. iTunes wasn’t even a question for the infamous rock star.

Recently, rock legend band AC/DC has announced the release of their new album on October 20th, but only in stores such as Wal-Mart. As Brian Johnson himself stated, iTunes is a danger to music and may soon destroy its spirit unless their officials are careful. Oddly enough, few bands refuse to sell their songs on iTunes, but those few names are among the few real musicians out there. Again referring to the words of lead singer of cult-band AC/DC, iTunes is a monstrous mechanism designed to pull in as much revenue as possible – as is to b expected from a business. There’s not much room left for musicality, sensitivity, metaphors and symbolism when it comes to profit, now is there?

The new album launched by rock giants AC/DC is called “Black Ice”, and it features a grand total of 15 songs. The blues-inspired power riffs have not suffered many alterations and have stayed true to the sound of the previous 14 albums.

Their most popular tracks, “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “Back in Black” (also the name of one of their albums) can still be heard even on the most recently established radio stations, proof of the everlasting quality of the songs. Later this month, AC/DC is starting a world tour, which will begin in the United States.
