AC/DC On Defying Time

AC/DC have decided to exclusively sell its latest album, “Black Ice,” through a temporary store in Times Square, New York, while Wal-Mart will also sell the AC/DC “Live: Rock Band Track Pack” video game. In other words the album, which will be released on October 20, will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and AC/DC.com as far as the U.S. is concerned.

AC/DC's first new single in eight years has already been released. "Rock 'N Roll Train," hit the band's web site and radio stations on August 28. A new AC/DC track entitled "War Machine" can be enjoyed on the band's MySpace page.

Nevertheless a pirated version of the album is already available on the Internet. It seems that “Black Ice” was leaked on October 7 onto a torrent site and afterwards spread. According to a report, the album appears to have already been downloaded more than 400,000 times. But it wasn’t officially confirmed, though.

Therefore the event scheduled to take place Saturday night, at the Times Square MTV store, Wal-Mart and MTV where the first copies of the album were supposed to be sold won’t be such a surprise as far as the new AC/DC songs are concerned.

AC/DC has been in the news lately leading the anti-iTunes charge due to the retailers' refusal to sell albums as a whole work instead of the a la carte model customers currently enjoy. But the band’s insistence on selling albums has almost certainly helped keep its sales from declining.

Producer Brendan O'Brien didn't try to modernize the band's sound or imprint his signature on this one. So it’s the ultimate AC/DC experience. Go for it!
