ABC’s ‘Big Shots’ Gets Scrapped

After airing just several episodes, ABC surprisingly decided to pull the remaining three original shows of its low-rated freshman comedy-drama "Big Shots," and instead air repeats of "Grey’s Anatomy" spin off, "Private Practice," according to Hollywood reporter.

The fact that ABC made this radical decision during the writers' strike is a massive indictment of the network's lack of faith in the series.

Starring Michael Vartan, Dylan McDermott, Christopher Titus and Joshua Malina, "Big Shots," which premiered in September, is sort of the male version of ABC’s successful dramedy "Desperate Housewives," telling "the story of four friends at the top of their game... until the women in their lives enter the room."

Despite the cold welcome from viewers and mixed reviews, "Big Shots" aired given the lack of original scripted programming the networks are facing with the strike stretching into the new year.

Just like fellow rookie drama "Women's Murder Club," "Big Shots" which landed the coveted post-"Grey's" time slot in May, wasn’t picked up for a full season. The other three ABC freshman one-hours, "Dirty Sexy Money" and "Pushing Daisies," have received back-nine orders.

However, ABC has more scripted programming in reserve than most of its competitors for the second half of the season. Eight fresh episodes of its island drama "Lost" are yet to air, plus three new series, dramas "Eli Stone" and "Cashmere Mafia" and the comedy "Miss/Guided."
