Six Indians were killed in a violent car crash on Saturday afternoon on a western Pennsylvania road, about 3 miles east of the Pennsylvania-Ohio border, authorities said.

The victims, including two women, were traveling in a minivan. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another car on the motorway. The driver and another passenger were injured and rushed to the nearest hospital. After treatment and some tests, they were released and are now in safe conditions.

Four victims were employees of Troy-based Syntel Inc. and the other two who died in the car crash were their spouses. They were working as computer programmers for the technology firm based in Michigan.

Al the victims were Indian citizens. They were on vacation and were on a trip to visit Niagara Falls.

"This is a tragic situation exasperated by a logistical nightmare," said Jonathan James, Syntel's vice president for marketing and investor relations.

Police released the names of the victims of the car crash: Kaushik De, 26, Manoj Jhairia, 35, Mili Jharia, 28, Nitin Agarwal, 29, Swati Agarwal, 25 and Shubham Choudhary, 24, The Associated Press news agency reported. The victims were living in Detroit suburb, Farmington Hills and had come to work there from various Indian cities.

Nitin Gupta, 28, along with the vehicle’s driver survived the car wreck.

The company that employed them started a memorial fund for the families of the victims. Syntel also said it would make sure the bodies of the victims will be sent back to India.
