Two suicide bombers killed at least 67 people and injured 100 others at Pakistan’s biggest arms factory on Thursday, in one of the deadliest attacks by the Taliban.

The twin bombings hit one of the country’s most impregnable military installations, The Associated Press reported.

According to Pakistani authorities, a would-be suicide bomber has been taken into custody, after two other attackers blew themselves up at the gates of the weapons factory.

Police said the man was caught while attempting to run away from the scene of the blasts that occurred yesterday in the town of Wah, not far from Islamabad, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In line with Mohammed Saeed, a local police official, the authorities are now in the possession of an explosives-packed jacket which they believe the suspect left in the bathroom of a mosque located near the arms factory. "The army and police arrested a suspected bomber not far away from scene of the attack," he said. "They also recovered a suicide jacket from a nearby mosque and seized explosives."

Subsequent to the resignation of Pervez Musharraf as president of Pakistan on Monday, the suicide bombings emphasized the Taliban’s willpower to defend their strongholds in the uncontrolled tribal areas, regardless of who holds power in Pakistan’s capital.

According to Agence France-Press, the two bombers came from Khyber tribal district and were trained in Miranshah, the capital city of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
