50 Cent’s former girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, who is also
mother to the rapper’s 10-year-old son Marquise, is upset that 50 Cent allegedly
wants to throw her and the boy out of their Long Island
home and she is suing.
Shaniqua Tompkins filed a complaint Wednesday in New York
State Supreme Court in Manhattan,
asking a judge to rule that she has a right to live in the residence, which 50
Cent bought, reports E! Online.
Tompkins alleges that the $2.4 million Long
Island house she lives in with Marquise is 50 Cent’s promise to
take care of her and their son. The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, also
pays monthly child support.
“This is somebody who was with him when he was shot and who
nursed him back to health,” Tompkins’ attorney, Paul Catsandonis, told the
Associated Press. “I think what he's doing is horrible.”
The rapper’s lawyer, Bret Kimmel, has not commented yet.
Catsandonis however is indignant at the rapper’s alleged
intent to evict mother and son. “This was a house that was promised to Shaniqua
up until the closing. Then he decided not to put it in her name. Now he's
trying to put her out of the house. This would mean evicting his own son,” he
added.
Tompkins’ lawyer added that Shaniqua stood by the
32-year-old rapper’s side when he went through the most difficult time in his
life. “This is somebody who was with him when he was shot in 2000 and who
nursed him back to health,” he said.
50 Cent is famous for having survived a brutal attack in
2000, when he was shot nine times at close range outside his grandmother’s
house in Queens. Marquise, then 3, was inside
the house.
50 Cent recovered well from the life-threatening experience,
but his musical career was in jeopardy for a while, after major labels learned
of the shooting and kept their distance. His luck changed when he met Eminem
and later signed with Universal-owned Interscope Records.
He has since received 13 Grammy Award nominations.
