Who do you think is the most famous fat cat in New Jersey? Well, don't think of business men right now, because the right answer is 'Princess Chunk,' a cat that weighs in at 44 pounds that has a temporary home at a local animal shelter.
The porky feline was found wandering on a street Saturday with no collar, and up until now no owner has come to claim her at the shelter. Shelter employees are now trying to find a home for the overweight cat and have already received 5 applications.
Shelter workers hope that the new owner, who will be chosen after the adoption applications will be analyzed, will take better care of the cat's diet. Unless something is done so that the cat will lose the extra extra pounds, her health will be at risk.
The world record for the fattest cat is held by Tabby, a feline from Australia that weighed 46 pounds 15 ounces. Tabby died in 1980 and since then the Guinness Book of Records dropped the category for fear that cat owners might deliberately overfeed their cats in order to break the record.
According to the Associated Press, the person who takes care of Princess Chunk at this moment, the shelter volunteer Deborah Wright said about Chunk that “She's built like a quarterback. I mean, how do you lose a 44-pound cat?!”
At this moment, Princess Chunk is fed only dry and wet cat food, and shelter workers have already prepared a diet and exercise plan that they will recommend to the future owner. Hopefully, that person will be kind enough and take heed of such diet recommendations.
