Shocking news from Hollywood. Actor Shelley Malil, best known for his role in Steve Carell's “The 40- Year-Old Virgin” is accused of attempt of murder, after stabbing his ex-girlfriend 20 times with a deadly weapon.
The event occurred Sunday night at the place where Kendra Beebe, the 35-year-old victim, lives. According to a witness, Eve Salony, one of Beebe’s neighbor, Malil’s former date was having a romantic dinner with another man, unaware of the fact that she will be visited by Malil.
Blinded by jealousy, he stabbed her. As a consequence, Kendra suffered serious injuries and was listed in a critical condition, but there are no doubts she will recover from her current state of health.
According to the statement from Lt. Phil Brust of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Shelley Malil was found later on, 35 miles north of San Diego in Oceanside, where he was to meet his attorney before surrendering to the police.
Malil, 43, of Los Angeles, was detained Monday night and is currently in the custody of the police and will be sentenced for life if found guilty for all the charges he was accused of. These include attempt of murder, residential burglary and also mayhem. The court set the bail at $2 million.
Shelley Malil who was persuaded by his family members and friends to turn himself out, refused to comment, such as his agent, Mark Measure, and his attorney.
The event may well put an end to Malil’s career highlighted by the role as a co-worker in the electronics store in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and by the appearance in a number of TV shows such as “NYPD Blue” and “Scrubs”.
