A date that Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson auctioned off
on EBay, in order to raise charity funds, raised more than $40,000.
A British man agreed to pay the impressive amount of money
for a date with the actress that will only last twenty minutes.
The bidder, known by the nickname of “bossnour” on EBay,
beat off other 170 participants offering more than $40,000 and winning two
tickets for the premiere of Johansson’s latest film “He's Just Not That Into
You.” Also starring in the film are Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer
Connelly and Ben Affleck.
Apparently, the winner will receive full star treatment,
getting their hair and make-up done and being chauffeured to the red carpet
event with a guest.
Also sold on EBay were three signed DVD with accompanying
notes written by Johansson. They went for the prices of $860, $710 and $695,
Hollywood Today informs.
The actress declared that all the raised money will go the
international relief organization Oxfam.
“One-hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to
supporting Oxfam's work,” Johansson announced in a video on the site, before
the auction started. “So please bid high.”
The auction started at 99 cents but rapidly grew during ten
days. Oxfam leaders are very pleased with the result.
“To get £20,000 for a 20-minute date and a pair of tickets to help us fight
poverty is fantastic. All of this money will be used to help us fight poverty
in countries all over the world,” an Oxfam spokesperson said.
Another actress supporting Oxfam is Kristin Davis, who will also set up an
auction to raise funds for Oxfam. The winner will meet the actress at the world
premiere of her “Sex and the City” film in New York.
