3G iPhone will Feature 3G Video Chat through iChat

Digg founder Kevin Rose says that Apple is preventing third-party developers from authoring applications that run in both the foreground and background in order to reserve that privilege for its own apps. In fact, Apple is currently developing a 3G iChat for the 3G iPhone, Rose says. In his podcast, he also says that the new iPhone will feature two cameras, as nearly all 3G mobile phones have.

It's unclear whether he is right about the first part of his allegations. It seems much more logical that Apple just doesn't want third party applications to run in background and slow down the smartphone.

But then again, "In the weeks leading up to last year's iPhone introduction, the Digg founder cited sources in saying Apple would introduce the handset with a slide-out keyboard, two separate battery compartments, and make it available for both CDMA and GSM networks -- all of which turned out to be false," Apple Insider reminds.

A study recently released by M:Metrics, the mobile media authority, says things have not been the same since the iPhone came on the market. Not only has it become one of the most popular and successful devices of its kind to date, but it has also changed and encouraged Web use on mobile devices for 85 percent of its users.
