3G iPhone Finally Coming Out: How Much Will It Cost?

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference '08 due to take place June 9 - 13 in San Francisco, Steve Jobs is expected to announce, first of all, the long awaited 3G iPhone. Also, analysts expect some news about new versions of Mac OS X and the .Mac service.

Meanwhile, Apple Insider has found out that Apple's Australian distributors have received single packages which are to be opened on or after June 10, which are suspected to contain demo 3G iPhones for display purposes.

Also, a photographer for CNET News managed to snatch pictures in San Francisco of the banners inside the Moscone Center where WWDC will take place. Unfortunately, they do not appear to signal anything new, as they depict icons of existing applications.

Steve Jobs' keynote address on Monday will dispel any remaining mystery regarding the 3G iPhone and Apple's short-term strategy regarding its smartphone. Jobs will also probably talk third-party applications for the iPhone and maybe showcase the company's next OS, Mac OS X 10.6.

One of the issues regarding the new iPhone's launch is price. Most analysts expect a price drop, but it remains to be seen whether that is true. Fortune speculated a while back that Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone, which will have other new features or improvements as well, is going to sell for only $199 due to subsidies from AT&T.

According to a recent press release from SoftBank Mobile, the Japanese service provider has secured an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Japan this year. The deal will ensure the iPhone’s first official access in Japan’s market.

Late last month, TeliaSonera, an European telecom operator, disclosed that it had signed a deal with Apple to offer the popular mobile Phone to its subscribers in Scandinavia and Baltic States. The device will be available later this year in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. TeliaSonera has not given any other details of the deal, and it is yet unknown whether this iPhone will be the 3G one whose arrival everybody awaits.
