Dallas Police are searching for the man who shot and killed two drivers and wounded another one in four separate rush-hour shootings near a freeway. The incidents occurred on Monday evening, police officials said.
The shooter was described as a balding white man in his 40s driving a tan extended-cab Ford F150 pickup. He attacked four drivers along a 3-mile stretch near and on the LBJ Freeway, located approximately 10 miles northeast of downtown Dallas. The shooting took place in under an hour and paralyzed traffic during the rush hour.
The first unlucky victim was a 20-year-old youngster identified as Jorge Lopez. The shooter pulled alongside his Nissan at about 5:40 p.m. and shot him. Just a few minutes later, a gunman opened fire at two tractor-trailers. One of the drivers, 42-year-old William Scott Miller of Frankfort, Kentucky, at the wheel of a United Van Lines truck was killed. The other driver survived the shooting.
Mr. Miller was on his way to park his rig and head to his wife and children to celebrate Christmas.
The last attack occurred a mile west on LBJ Freeway. The gunman opened fire on another tractor trailer. The driver was not hit by the bullets, but flying glass from the shattered windshield caused him minor cuts.
"There's a good possibility we're going to have witnesses at these four different locations and that's what we're banking on," Dallas Police Sgt. Gil Cerda said.
Sgt. Cerda added that the gunman seems to be a very upset person who takes it out on innocent people.
