“24” Is Back…At Least For A Couple Of Hours

Approximately 18 months after “24” left the air and just a couple of months before the show sees its seventh season debut, Kiefer Sutherland is back as Jack Bauer in “24: Redemption,” a television film scheduled to be run on Sunday by Fox.

The two-hour long movie will serve both as a connection between “24’s” Season 6 and Season 7 and as an independent production that requires no knowledge with regard to past adventures of the protagonist.

In “Redemption,” Jack explores the grounds of Africa, after traveling across the globe for almost three years. He helps an old friend, Carl Benton (Robert Carlyle), run a school for young boys that protects rescued child soldiers and offers them education. Jack discovers that the fictional country of Sangala is endangered by insurgents who are forcing young people to join their army. In addition, he has been subpoenaed by the United States government in order to testify about his torture techniques.

Back in the U.S., Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), is preparing her assignments as the new President, while forerunner Noah Daniels (Powers Booth) informs her that General Juma (Tony Todd) has organized another coup and advises her to stay away from the affair.

In spite of the fact that he is far away from D.C., Jack continues his heroic missions of saving the day, since he is acquainted with the plans with the villainous architect, Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight).

“Redemption” brings us back the most virtuous heroes of them all in anticipation of the series’ January season premiere. While it sticks to action, it can’t possibly go wrong.
