The 2008 International Consumer
Electronics Show is ready to unveil the newest, up-to-date, most amazing
gadgets in the Sin City convention that will open its gates tomorrow night. Over
140,000 conventioneers are expected to take part in this technological event,
and over 27,000 gadgets are to be displayed.
The official opening is on
Monday, but tomorrow will held pre-show events. The biggest names in the $148
billion tech industry will be here, promoting the most innovative products and
technologies to the large public that is expected to attend the event.
From the latest cell-phones and
music players, to the newest wireless technologies, all will be revealed by
this years’ tech capital of the world, Las Vegas.
Of course, technology gets as
always ahead of human needs, and this time environmental needs, by showing at
this year’s event the largest series of environmental-friendly, power-saving
products. The ‘green-show’ is meant to put a stop to accusations that the tech
industry is anything but environmental-friendly, and that its products are
impossible to be recycled.
Another big point of attraction
to the show will be the display of the latest GPS navigation systems, which
will cover around 250,000 square feet at the 2008 International Consumers
Electronic Show in Las Vegas, and of the latest notebooks.
An important highlight of the
show will be the preview and demonstration of the new SlingPlayer for
BlackBerry, expected to be available for purchase starting later this year, and
the SlingBox PRO-HD, with improved wireless technology and improved streaming.
The show will cover a total of
1.85 million square feet of exhibition square, including the Las Vegas
Convention Center, the Sands Expo and Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton
and Venetian Hotels. “It’s pretty ambitious, considering we’re larger than the
Super Bowl and all the political conventions,” said Gary Saphiro, chief
executive of the Consumer Electronics Association, who hosts the show.
