Another shocking murder case involves a teenager.
Nicholas Waggoner Browning, a 15-year-old boy from Baltimore, was charged with murder Sunday under the accusation of gunning down his parents and his two younger brothers. All the victims were killed inside their home situated in a Baltimore suburb.
Nicholas was charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of his father, John Browning, 45; his mother Tamara, 44; and his brothers Gregory, 13, and Benjamin, 11. The 15-year-old teen was charged as an adult.
The alleged killer was put under arrest at 1:05 a.m. Sunday. He acknowledged that he was the murderer, Baltimore County Police spokesman Bill Toohey said.
After a period throughout which he hadn’t got along with his father, Nicholas decided on Friday night to kill all his family. He took his father’s handgun and shot every member of his family while they were asleep, the police report showed.
The gun has been easily recovered as it was thrown in some bushed very close to the house.
After killing his entire family, the youngster spent Friday night and all day Saturday with his friends as if nothing had happened. When he came back home with his friends at 5 p.m., he entered the house and then got out to say that his father was dead. Then he called the police.
Police investigators found the four corpses and no sign of confrontation.
Nicholas was denied bail Sunday morning; bail review was scheduled Monday at District Court in Towson. He was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center in a special section for juveniles.
Under state law, even if he is trialed as an adult, the teen killer is too young to fae a death penalty.
"It's hard to believe someone could do this," said 16-year-old Brooke Kebaugh, one of the killer’s friends. Liz Lazlawbach, another friend of Nicholas, told reporters that the teen killer complained about fighting with his father, but "not about anything violent."
