During renewed clashes between the Hamas police and a
Gaza-based clan in eastern Gaza
City, a Palestinian young
boy was killed on Saturday, the paramedics reported.
Also, Mohammed Helles, a member of the family that has been
fighting Hamas since Wednesday, was killed Saturday morning, too, in the
Sheja'eya neighborhood in eastern Gaza
City.
The 13-year-old boy, named Mohammed al-Sousi, died as he was
caught in a crossfire which also wounded his brother.
The violence that last since Wednesday have already made
seven victims. Although a ceasefire was reached Thursday morning, it collapsed
Saturday morning.
Ihab al-Ghussein, spokesman for the interior ministry in the
Hamas administration, said that a military group was returning from their
position close to the Israel
border when one of the Helles family members tried to fire an RPG shell at
them.
"The shell exploded before being fired and killed the launcher,"
al-Ghussein said. He also added that three al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas members
were wounded when other people from the Helles family opened fire.
"What we want is to confiscate the family's weapons and the wanted gunmen
be handed over to the police," al-Ghussein said.
The first round of clashes was the one with the most victims
since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip by force in June, killing more than 30
people from both sides.
The clashes seem to have been started when a group from the
family, which is affiliated with the rival Fatah movement, refused to give back
weapons and cars which belonged to the former security services that controlled
the Gaza Strip before June.
