United Airlines said 10 people suffered injuries after a Los Angeles-to-Chicago flight was caught in the middle of
turbulence in Nevada.
The Chicago-based airlines said Flight 1028 was diverted to Denver International
Airport around 3 a.m.
Monday after encountering heavy turbulence, the Associated Press reported.
Eight passengers on board and two flight attendants suffered
injuries during the incident and were taken to several hospitals in Denver, a spokesperson of
the airline said. The doctors dealing with their cases have not released their
condition yet.
“We don’t have their conditions at this time,” said United
Airlines representative Megan McCarthy, according to local newspaper Denver
Post. She also said that a further and complete investigation would be led on
the case. “We don’t have details about exactly what happened,” she added.
Flight 1028, which was coming from Los Angeles and heading to Chicago O’Hare,
was carrying 187 passengers.
United Airlines’ maintenance employees reviewed the Boeing
757 and “everything checked out OK,” McCarthy said.
After getting a new crew, the plane continued onto Chicago at 5:44 Tuesday
morning, arriving at Chicago O’Hare Airport at 9:40 a.m.
A voicemail left at United Airlines’ main number, seeking
for further details on the incident, was not immediately returned, Bloomberg
reported.
