The recent outbreak of hand, food and mouth disease in China has continued to spread despite harsh measures by the government which has already punished dozens of doctors for their slow response. The number of reported cases jumped to nearly 20,000 while the death toll rose to near 30 children, Xinhua reported. Women who stop smoking dramatically reduce their risk of
developing heart diseases or tobacco-related cancers, a study conducted by
researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health informs.
The study involved 105,000 women over 24 years. The women
had also participated in a Nurses’ Health Study long-term survey that began at
Harvard in 1976.
Stacey Kenfield, lead author of the study, says the data show
harm developed from smoking can be completely reversed over time.

The crew of STS-124 participated Friday in a launch dress
rehearsal at NASA's Kennedy Space Center
in Florida. Part
of the three-day terminal countdown demonstration test, the rehearsal called
for the astronauts to be fully suited for liftoff as they simulated the final
hours of the countdown.
Friday afternoon, the astronauts returned to their home base
at NASA's Johnson Space Center
in Houston.
They'll report to Kennedy once again a few days before their launch aboard
space shuttle Discovery, currently targeted for May 31.
