Rapper Kanye West and hip-hop group UGK have won two prizes each Tuesday at the Black Entertainment TV (BET) Awards, an event that honors black recording artists, actors and athletes.West was awarded the prize for best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration for the “Good Life”, which featured T-Pain. Houston rap duo UGK was declared best group and also won video of the year award for International Player's Anthem (I Choose You) featuring Outkast. Alicia Keys was awarded the Best Female R&B Artist title, while teen sensation Chris Brown, who topped the U.S. singles chart last year with “Kiss Kiss” was named Best Male R&B Artist in the same category. Missy Elliott nabbed the award for Best Female Hip-hop Artist, Marvin Sapp took Best Gospel Artist, and the prize for Best New Artist went to the Dream. In the acting categories, awards were handed out to Halle Berry and Denzel Washington. Lil Wayne received the Best New Rap Artist award, which was voted for by viewers. The evening's most emotional moment came when veteran soul singer Al Green, beneficiary of a lifetime achievement award, got the audience in the L.A. Shrine Auditorium on its feet singing and dancing, while performing his classic 1970s hit "Let's Stay Together."
