The US Food and Drug Administration
announced that the contaminated jalapeño and serrano peppers coming from Mexico,
were no longer in circulation. Last month the health agency issued a warning that
consumers avoid eating jalapeño and serrano peppers from Mexico. Now the
FDA has lifted the warning.
The salmonella outbreak began in late
April, but by early August the number of new cases had dropped to levels that
would be considered normal, according to the CDC.

Having a history of non-melanoma skin cancer may increase the risk of developing any other malignancy in the body, a new study shows. Researchers, led by Jiping Chen, MD, PhD, of the National Cancer Institute and Anthony Alberg, PhD, MPH, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, said the increase was particularly linked to age. Maple Leaf Chief Executive Michael McCain has
called the nationwide outbreak linked to the company’s Toronto meat plant the biggest crisis in the
company’s 100-year history. Earlier this week health authorities announced a
massive recall of meat contaminated with the listeria bacterium. The meat
belonged to Canadian company Maple Leaf Foods Inc. The source of the outbreak
was the meat tainted with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes processed at the
Maple Leaf’s plant in Toronto.

The first death caused by the West Nile virus in the state of Long Island this year occurred in Nassau County where a 75-year-old man died on Monday after being infected with the potentially deadly virus, the Nassau County Health Department said. Another Nassau County resident, an 80-year-old woman from New Hyde Park, died and many suspect her death to be West Nile virus-related. She died on Sunday, local authorities said. clinicians may recognize earwax buildup and so that they know how to deal with

The clinical term for earwax is cerumenn and it is actually made up of keratin mixed with
