If you expected “90210” to bring a bunch of surprises, find
out it did. Although not a bunch and just a couple, the “Beverly Hills” spin off managed to surprise
its viewers, and not necessarily in a pleasant way.
On the one hand, the plot is so familiar, one would actually
take it for a “Beverly Hills”
episode if the faces weren’t new. Surprise! On the other hand, an up-to-date
posh soap about fabulously rich teenagers can’t possibly feature the same old means
of communication or transportation or whatever.
The hippest hairdos, the most stylish clothes, the very...

Although much likened to “The Sopranos” because of the
somewhat similar atmosphere and the plot that focuses on an outlaw family, the
new drama series “Sons Of Anarchy” certainly does not lack originality.
The new FX series involves plenty of brutality, immorality
and motorcycle gangs, but manages to seduce and surprise from the very first
episode.
It’s like the Sopranos lost their elegant suits, as well as
their sense of humor, got dressed in jeans and leather and jumped on
motorcycles, attempting to rule the Californian mountain town which is
ironically called Charming.

Alan Ball’s “True Blood,” which premieres on HBO on Sunday,
offers a different view of vampires than the one we are used to.
The dark creatures are not portrayed as a threat to human
kind anymore, but rather as outcasts who try to integrate in the society.
Now that a Japanese substitute for blood exists, the
vampires in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, do not need to feed on
human blood to survive. So they finally are able to come out publicly, even if
only at night. But even though they do not represent a danger anymore, humans
still despise, fear and hate them. Erm, like...

Making a not-so-good movie is bad. Remaking the not-so-good
movie and turning into a not-at-all-good movie is even worse. It makes us
wonder: What were the Pang brothers thinking and, in addition to this, what was
Nicholas Cage thinking in the first place when he accepted to be the star of
“Bangkok Dangerous,” a film which will definitely bring no good to his acting
career?
The actor reprises his long-forgotten assassin role who
finds the humanity inside him in the midst of love. Oh, how romantic! Oh, how clichéd!
The Pang Brothers already made this movie in 1999, but they
don’t...

The star movie of this summer movie season was definitely "The Dark Knight.” The Christopher Nolan-directed superhero movie did way much better than anticipated as it passed the $500 million milestone and settled around $505 million. As for the 2008 summer movie season, despite the fact that it included the second-biggest Hollywood movie and the ticket prices were sky-high, it wasn’t all that great. The declining attendance and the lack of a blockbuster to close the summer made Brandon Gray, president of Box Office Mojo say: "The summer is ending with a whimper. The movies...
