While the long-awaited 3G iPhone is still nothing moer than
a rumor, other cell phone makers are already updating their “iPhone killers.”
In a move similar to what happened last year, HTC unveiled HTC Touch Diamond,
the new 3G version of its HTC Touch.
Lat year, HTC Touch was unveiled on June 4, a month ahead of
the official launch of the iPhone.
As to technical specs, HTC Touch Diamond offers a 2.8” LCD
touch screen with backlight, a 240 x 320 dots resolution with 65,536 colors and
a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with video calling.

British operator Vodafone announced today that it will sell
Apple’s iPhone in ten countries. The world’s largest mobile operator will be
responsible for distributing the iPhone in Australia,
the Czech Republic,
Egypt, Greece, Italy,
India, Portugal, New
Zealand, South Africa
and Turkey.
The move could be interpreted as a clear sign that the 3G
iPhone is underway. Last year it was reported that Apple and Vodafone failed to
nail a deal regarding the iPhone distribution in Europe
due to the lack of 3G capabilities.

There are rumors that Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone, which will have other new features or improvements as well, is going to sell for only $199 due to subsidies from AT&T. This means that the carrier will pay for half of the gadget's price in exchange for a two-year commitment from the customer. The rumors were apparently started off by Fortune, which also reports that both AT&T and Apple declined to comment on the matter. The $200 subsidy is not hard to envision. Microsoft will soon fit its Xbox 360 gaming console with a new GPU which will consume less power due to the 65nm manufacturing process. In August 2007, the Xbox was modified to include a 65-nm CPU and a 90-nm GPU, under the code name Falcon. The new incarnation, codenamed Jasper, will be out in August and will finally see the replacement of the 90-nm GPU. The Finnish cell-phone maker, Nokia, announced three new
devices, the Nokia 6600 Fold, the Nokia 6600 Slide and the Nokia 3600 Slide,
with a smooth, minimalist design and an appealing array of easy-to-use
features.
The company said the devices are priced from 175 EUR to 275
EUR before taxes and subsidies and are expected to start shipping during the
third quarter of 2008.
