Google's homepage at google.com has been changed: the search engine leader has decided that a privacy link, which leads to the company's straightforward Privacy Center, should be fit somewhere on its first page. But there was also the company policy of keeping things neat and thin, with a fixed word count of 28 words on the homepage. What could then be removed to make room for the "Privacy" word and link? Looking around, there was this one word that seemed superfluous: Google, in the copyright notice at the bottom of the search homepage. Consequently, the "©2008 Google"...

Teenagers craving for attention resort to desperate, often
reckless acts these days, and the case of a 16-year-old boy in Georgia is just
one example of how these gestures can be taken to extreme, and have serious
consequences.
The teenager released a video on YouTube that shocked the
YouTube community and the entire world. In the video, he puts an 8-month-old
baby on an inflatable pillow, jumps on the pillow and projects the baby across
the room. The baby lands face-first before starting crying.
The entire scene seems very amusing for the deranged
teenager, who wants to see if...

The ruling which demands Google to hand over the YouTube access logs, which are to show the actual extent of copyright infringement going on the popular site, has sparked outrage from privacy groups, which are now questioning both the court order and Google's practice of retaining such sensitive data for a long time or permanently. The access data that Google needs to make available to Viacom will be airtight sealed, and not even Viacom will be able to go through it directly. YouTube's logs are protected by a special provision which triggers contempt of court charges if the data is used for...

Maybe because of 4th of July, maybe just out of generosity, or
maybe because of the 3G iPhone release, Apple decided to make a delightful surprise
to its customers by making an overnight cut of $500 for its most expensive laptop.
AppleInsider
noticed that the ultrathin 64GB Solid State Drive MacBook Air now costs $2,598
instead of the $3098 price tag available last week. It’s all been done very
quietly, as a result of price cuts in two components, the 1.8GHz Intel Core 2
Duo upgrade, now $100 less, and the Flash memory-based 64GB SSD upgrade, $400
less. However, the price tag didn’t...

Desperate to reduce the gap between its search engine, Live Search, and omnipresent Google, Microsoft has been searching lately for the best solution. In just two months, Microsoft announced various initiatives aimed to improve its search service and the user experience. After it dropped the bid for Yahoo (although there are rumors that the Redmond-based software giant still seeks some partners to buy the Internet portal) Microsoft seems to lack a clear strategy to achieve its goal. Its aim to be greater than Google is already a clear statement, but Microsoft seems to have no idea how to...
