HP confirmed today is close to a deal to acquire the
Electronic Data Systems Corporation. The information first emerged as a report in
the Wall Street Journal. The newspapers claimed that HP is willing to pay for EDS
a sum between $12 billion and $13 billion.
HP has issued a statement regarding the report and confirmed
that it is engaged in advanced discussions with Electronic Data Systems
Corporation regarding a possible business combination involving the two

Verizon Wireless announced today its decision to join the work on a free Linux-based mobile operating system, called the LiMo Foundation, expected to soon compete with a rival mobile system, currently in development at Google and also other programs released by Microsoft Corp. and Qualcomm.Kyle Malady, vice president of networks at Verizon Wireless, insisted on the fact that Verizon will still sell phones using several operating systems. MySpace was announced the winner of a $234 million lawsuit carried against two individuals, Sanford Wallace and Walter Rines, responsable for a huge series of junk mail sent to a large number of members of the social networking site.According to some court records, the two managed to send out 735,925 messages and also earned more than $500,000 in the process. One of the main reasons for the large number of complaints was that some of the messages were sent to children and they contained links to pornographic sites. Apparently, Apple has agreed to pay refunds of $25 - $79 for
close to 2.3 million PowerBook and iBook owners who endured numerous problems
due to purchasing faulty power adapters.
The agreement received its preliminary approval from the San
Jose U.S. District Court on March 24, but the final approval will be awaited until
September 8.
The class action suit accused the company of selling a type
of laptop power adapter which “dangerously frays, sparks and prematurely fails
