Madonna proved once again that sparking controversy is
definitely her thing. However, the Material Girl did not count on sex or
religious issues this time, as she preferred to turn to politics. Notwithstanding
the fact that celebrities and political matters don’t really have common
ground, the pop icon kicked off her Sticky & Sweet world tour on Saturday
night lashing out at Senator John McCain.
That surely drew some attention, I’d say.
During her four-act show which took place in Millennium
Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, Madonna chose to display a couple of political
montages...

According to a report released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday, the number of Americans without health insurance decreased in 2007 for the very first time since President Bush took office. More precisely, 45.7 million of American citizens had no health insurance last year, which means 1.3 million fewer than in 2006. "Both the percentage and number of people without health insurance decreased in 2007," said David Johnson, chief of the Census Bureau's Housing and Household Economic Statistics Division. The enhanced situation is due mostly to health insurance programs such as...

Due to the multiplication of mosquitoes and to noteworthy findings concerning the West Nile virus, mosquito control teams are to spray pesticide to avoid more cases of infections. According to Kevin Smith, the Montgomery County Health Department's deputy director, aerial spraying is "a last resort. Our fear is that right now . . . we run a high risk of this jumping into the human population," he said. The warm weather is propitious to spreading the virus in birds and mosquitoes. Besides infecting these populations, WNV has infected humans, this way determining the authorities...

“Traitor” follows two directions that do not have common
ground and the movie’s big mistake is that it does not focus entirely on either
one of them. On the one hand, the new thriller strives to be a breathtaking
action blockbuster and, on the other hand, it pulls out all the stops in order
to be seen as a reflective and intellectual drama with reference to religion
and terrorism.
In addition to this, it tries to cover every perspective
upon these matters and provide all ideological views, an attempt that may give
the impression of both eccentricity and improbability.
However,...

Madonna launched her "Sweet and Sticky" tour in her own fashion - by creating a bit of controversy and pissing off some people. On Saturday, the tour’s first show was held in Cardiff, Wales, and it began by showing a set of political montages during the song “Get stupid.” So far, so good, but the political figures featured in the montage included not only “classics” such as Adolf Hitler, John Lennon, Gandhi and Al Gore (the montage was referring to issues such as destruction and global warming). After Hitler, Madonna fans could see in close succession the image of presidential...
