A 48-year-old gas station owner from Bend, Oregon triumphed Saturday on his third attempt in making a 235-mile (378km) ride
in a lawn chair rigged with helium-filled party balloons. Kent Couch flew
across the Oregon desert to the nearby state of Idaho in a trip that lasted around
nine hours.
Couch covered the distance after lifting off at dawn from
his gas station riding in a green armchair held aloft by more than 150 giant

The Food and Drugs Administration agency has recently reached the conclusion that tomatoes might eventually not be the cause of the salmonella outbreak that has made more than 900 victims nationwide since it was first discovered in late May. CDC said that even though tomatoes remain the number one suspect, the investigations will start to focus on the components found in salsa. in Charlottesville, Va,
on his last Fourth of July as president. The purpose of the visit to the home
of Thomas Jefferson, one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence, was

James Taylor, 36, the only survivor of the tragic medical helicopter collision near Flagstaff, has died. He was a registered nurse at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City and was flying in a patient to the Flagstaff Medical Center. Thus the death toll is now up to seven. Mourners gathered Sunday at a memorial service in Brooklyn
for Betty Wright, who died Friday evening in a car crash that has left her
husband, the beloved Rev. Timothy Wright, in critical condition at Geisinger Medical
Center in Danville.
The couple’s 14-year-old grandson was also seriously injured
and passed away Saturday night.
