Fox Topped the Ratings with Football Broadcast

Fox won the biggest ratings last week because the network knew what to broadcast as to attract the audience. So they broadcast one of the football games from the championship-chasing football teams and took the best shot with it. Advancing the return of “American Idol,” their most important show when it comes to high ratings, Fox had about 26.8 million people watching Florida beat Oklahoma last week.

Also among the most watched shows from last week there were the National Football League's Arizona-Carolina playoff game and the Fiesta Bowl's Texas-Ohio State contest.

Simon Baker and “The Mentalist” from CBS managed to gain the biggest audience ever last week and the newcomer series continued to go up. The show was watched more than any other football game, according to Nielsen Media Research. As long as Fox gathered 14.2 million viewers last week and topped the ratings, CBS had 11.7 million people watching their programming.

Next, there was NBC, who had 8.3 million people and ABC who gathered round in front of their TVs nearly 7.8 million people.

“Nightly News” from NBC won the biggest ratings for the evening newscast with an average of 9.9 million watchers, while “World News” from ABC attracted only 9.1 million people.

The week which began on January 5 and ended on January 11 had its own top 10 shows. Oklahoma vs. Florida was watched on Fox by 26.77 million people and reached the first place. Following, there was Arizona vs. Carolina on Fox too, which was viewed by 23.78 million people.

The most watched TV shows from last week were “The Mentalist,” “60 Minutes” on CBS, which gathered 19.1 million viewers, “Grey’s Anatomy,” with 13.87 million people watching it and “Desperate Housewives,” on ABC, which gathered 13.79 million fans.
