Hillary Clinton - Secretary of State?
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is believed to become Barack Obama’s secretary of state. If she doesn’t get that position, the Democratic Senators want to give her a powerful position in the state nonetheless, as some of them have declared this Thursday.
The prospect of receiving the opportunity to have an important position in state, namely that of the top diplomat, is a factor that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will take into consideration when she will decide whether or not she wants to give up her position of senator, which gives her a somewhat limited power of influence or remain on this position which gives her independence.

After the elections on November 4th, the junior New York Senator expressed her desire to join the Senate Democratic leadership. After the president-elect, Barack Obama, offered Senator Clinton the position of secretary of state, the Democrat leaders started to plan how to give Senator Clinton an influential position in case she turns down the job, all the while without letting go of any current members.

After a day when different sources said she will or will not accept the job, Barack Obama’s advisers finally announced they thought Senator Clinton migh accept and that the nomination could be announced publicly sometime after Thanksgiving.

The coming on board of Senator Clinton will alter the composition of the national security team of Barack Obama. Contrary to popular belief, Senator Clinton did not use the offer made by Barack Obama to gain a more influential position in the Senate. However, the offer does give the Senator credibility and makes her an important asset to the Senate.
