The World of Warcraft is now bigger and even more attractive with the release of its second full expansion called The Wrath of the Lich King, that took place yesterday. Users will be able to explore 10 new zones, filled with action and dangers and will also be allowed to learn a new profession (Inscription). Another first for the game is that users can now reach level 80.
Even though many players requested the possibility of fighting Arthas, the Lich King, for now the game will only allow certain interactions with the king. Still, the game’s future updates are expected to satisfy the gamers’ request.
At this point, the game has more than 11 million users but this will not be its final expansion set. Alex Afrasiabi, the lead world designer for Wrath of the Lich King, talked to MacWorld and explained that everyone involved in the project keeps looking forward and preparing for new challenges. He explained that this is probably the best time for new users to join the WoW universe, as up until now they “hadn’t quite found the formula,” and even though its first full expansion set, The Burning Crusade, represented a nice upgrade, the new version brings many new elements to the game and provides a far better experience.
The work on the series is very likely to continue, as the worldwide rising enthusiasm among gamers fuels the developers’ wish to release new and exciting features.
World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King costs $40 for the regular package and $70 for the Collector’s Edition.
