The Three Stooges Will Return To The Big Screen

It seems that the movie industry has been into remakes or spin offs lately as movies were released based on video games or other, older, movies or TV series. Though this might seem as the movie producers have ran out of imagination, it is not necessarily a bad thing, as some remakes can be indeed of high quality.

Recently, MGM announced that a movie following the adventures of the classical Three Stooges is set for the end of 2009.

The Farrelly Brothers will direct the movie and it will present the three characters in a pre-TV series existence. In other words, the movie will act as a prequel to the notorious series that has amused people for almost 80 years.

MGM has announced that casting is underway in order to find the actors who will be playing Larry, Moe and Curly. According to the Farrellys, offers were made to George Clooney, who refused, Russell Crowe, who also passed on the offer, Larry David also showed no interest and Benicio del Toro seemed to be interested in the project. The project of putting the Three Stooges on the big screen has been conceived a while ago, but only now MGM has finally approved it and stamped a release date for November 20th, 2009.

The Farrelly Brothers are also believed to be implied in the upcoming “Walter the Farting Dog” movie, which is based on a children’s book with the same name. “Walter the Farting Dog” may be the starring the Jonas brothers, making it a launch ramp to the big screen for them.
