To avoid speculations upon his health, Democratic US vice
president nominee Joe Biden on Monday made his medical records public showing voters
there is no reason for concern about another aneurysm.
Twenty years ago, the senator suffered an aneurysm that almost got him killed. Few months later, he had another unruptured aneurysm removed. However, his recovery appears to be complete according to a letter from Dr. John Eisold, the attending physician for Congress who described the senator’s cardiac capacity as excellent. And there is no wonder it is so, since his blood pressure is 120 over 78 and his arteries look great.
Besides the two aneurysms, Biden seems to have minor medical problems. He takes medicines for an enlarged prostate, although tests showed he has no cancer. He also takes Zocor, a statin, to lower his cholesterol levels, drugs to treat his allergies, a problem dating back to childhood. Earlier this year, he underwent surgery to correct the sinus condition, which is a minor procedure.
Out of the ordinary were two episodes of irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation back in 2006, but tests showed no cardiovascular disease. Following the incidents, Biden was prescribed a precautionary blood-thinning aspirin and he was also recommended less caffeine and more exercise.
Biden’s rival, Republican Sarah Palin, has not released any of her medical information. She is 44 years old.
Democrat Barack Obama did not released actual records, though his personal physician wrote a letter in which he described the candidate’s health as excellent.
On the other hand, his rival, Republican presidential nominee John McCain released more than 1,000 pages of medical records earlier in May showing he is in good health despite his four diagnosed melanomas.
