Ed McMahon Finds Homebuyer and Triumphs Over Foreclosure Threat

Television personality Ed McMahon has at last found a buyer for his multimillion dollar home in Beverly Hills, California, and has thus avoided the foreclosure threatening his six-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion, Reuters reported.

The name of the buyer was not divulged, but Howard Bragman, McMahon’s representative, said that it was not business tycoon Donald Trump. “It’s a confidential deal, and the buyer wants anonymity, but I can tell you it is not Mr. Trump – and it’s not John McCain,” Howard Bragman joked in relation to the Republican presidential candidate’s declaration this week that he did not know how many properties he and his wife owned.

Reports circulated weeks ago that Donald Trump wanted to help Ed McMahon by buying his home and then leasing it back to the famous television figure. Nonetheless, Newsday reported that Trump’s intention was that of purchasing the house and giving McMahon no more than six months to evacuate the property.

Ed McMahon, aged 85, sidekick to “Tonight Show” front-man Johnny Carson for three decades and also host of the television talent show “Star Search,” is said to have been trying to sell his $5.75 million house for approximately two years. In addition to this, his mortgage lenders filed a notice of default in February, after they found the TV veteran had more than $644,000 in unpaid debt.

However, Ed McMahon claims his financial problems are a result of a neck injury he suffered about 18 months ago, which prevented him from working.
