Alan Panettiere, Hayden Panettiere’s father, was released
from jail on Monday, after paying $50,000 bail. He was taken into custody
Monday morning, after police officers were called to his home in order to solve
some family drama. According to People Magazine, police informed that “Heroes”
star Hayden Panettiere’s father was arrested at 3.15 a.m. at the family’s
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said that Alan Panettiere was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and he was detained on suspicion of spousal assault. Alan Panettiere, 49, spent about ten hours in jail before paying the $50,000 bail. Allegedly he had a fight with his wife Leslie Vogel, 52.
Officials said that Alan Panettiere hit Lesley Vogel one or two times, causing some bruises on the woman’s cheek. The couple was returning from a reception for Hayden’s charity benefit for the Whalemen Foundation, which took place at Eva Longoria’s Beso restaurant. The two were seen quarreling and Alan Panettiere allegedly went overboard and hit his wife. Someone who was at the party told People that Alan Panettiere and his wife Lesley Vogel were “doing a good amount of yelling” while they were preparing to leave.
Sgt. Scott Wolf said that Alan Panettiere “got upset and struck the mother in the face one or two times on the left cheek which caused some bruising,” adding that it was not sure “whether either party was intoxicated.”
Even though “there were visible signs of injury” on 52-year-old Lesley Vogel's face, the woman refused to go to a hospital to have the injuries checked out. Alan Panettiere was “cooperative” when police came to the family’s home and he said that he “felt disrespected by his wife” because she had been around another man while they were at the party.
Hayden Panettiere’s publicist Michelle Bega said that the actress would not comment the situation.
