British rock trio The Police played their final concert
together on Thursday night, at
The trio consisting of
singer and bassist Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers
got back on tour together for the first time since 1984. The tour began on May

The band opened with "Sunshine of Your Love", "Don't Stand So Close to Me" (when introducing this song Sting recalled the times when he used to be a teacher), "Walking on the Moon," "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" (during which three young women who looked like fans popped up on stage; apparently they were Sting’s daughters), as well as "De Doo Doo Doo, De Da Da Da." "Every Breath You Take" was sung at the end of the first encore and "Next to You" at the end of the second.
At one point during the show, Sting confessed: “The real triumph of this tour is that we haven’t strangled each other.” "Although it did cross their minds", he added.
During the two hour
show, the group was joined on stage by the New York City Police Department
band.
Mayor Bloomberg was present at the concert and had a row for himself in Section 80.
The concert’s closing moments were very sincere and somewhat sad. Porky Pig was the one to remind us all that “That’s All, Folks!”
