Actor Verne Troyer dropped his lawsuit against porn broker Kevin Blatt after the defendant agreed not to market a sex tape of Troyer and an ex-girlfriend, court documents filed Friday show.
Troyer filed a $20 million lawsuit against Blatt, distributor SugarDVD and celebrity gossip Web site TMZ after fragments of the video were released last month.
Even though attorney for Troyer, Edwin McPherson, said on Friday that his client would never agree to sell the videotape, Blatt and online renter SugarDVD both signed agreements requiring the actor’s permission before selling or distributing the tape or any images from it.
“We got what we wanted: a permanent injunction,” said McPherson.
McPherson also said that he planned to amend the suit Monday, to try to prevent Ranae Shrider, Troyer’s ex-girlfriend who also appears on the tape, from releasing the tape.
Shrider leaked fragments from the tape to TMZ, according to a statement filed in federal court by the site, the Associated Press informs. Shrider said the tape was filmed with her video equipment, so she was a partial owner of the tape.
Troyer’s attorney said other people or companies may also be sued to prevent the tape from being released.
Earlier this week, Troyer told E! News that he fought so hard to win the lawsuit because he considered his privacy was invaded.
“Just because people are seeing something that was meant to be between me and her. That's the biggest reason that I'm, you know, trying to stop the tape from being released,” Troyer said.
The diminutive actor, who is famous for his role as Mini Me in two of the “Austin Powers” movies, added that he thought Shrider’s gesture was caused by their break-up in June.
