But don't Blame Matt Damon or Ben Affleck for it! Comedienne Sarah Silverman and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, who seemed perfect together, have split up after a five-year relationship, reps for both of them confirmed to Usmagazine.com.
"Jimmy and Sarah have no comment and will have no further comment," publicists Lewis Kay and Amy Zvi were quoted by Us Weekly as saying. No reason was given for the breakup, first reported in Vanity Fair.
The split follows wildly popular Internet spoofs in which the comedic lovers sing about being romantically involved with actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. It all started with Sarah Silverman's "present" to Kimmel, when she shot a mock video announcing him she was cheating on him with the "Bourne Ultimatum" star. Shortly afterwards, Kimmel replied with his own skit in which he jokingly suggested he and Damon's best friend, Ben Affleck, were an item.
Earlier this year when People magazine awarded them the Funniest Couple Alive title, Silverman gushed about her and Kimmel’s relationship saying "we really, really, really like each other. He’s kind and funny and maybe the most thoughtful people I know."
Kimmel also had only good things to say about Silverman, "Sarah is funny and smart and good to look at. Plus, she likes fat guys. What more could I ask?"
However, Silverman said last month that even though she loves her funnyman beau, the couple had no plans of tying the knot.
The two just headlined a benefit concert in Manchester, NH, Silverman's hometown. She was the star of the show, while Kimmel served as a host. The concert was to benefit the theater group founded by Silverman’s mother, who still lives in NH.
Kimmel, 40, who is the host of late-night ABC television talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", and Silverman, 37, who has her own comedy show, "The Sarah Silverman Program," on the cable TV network Comedy Central, met back in 2001 at party for Hugh Hefner, when she jokingly told the audience he was fat and had no charisma.
Kimmel left his wife of fourteen years to hook up with Silverman, but somehow she successfully managed to dodge the "homewrecker" label so many other women get in her position.
