iPhone 3G Makes the Leap From Phone to Pocket Computer
The new iPhone 3G that Apple has recently released seems to have taken care of some of the major problems of it predecessor and has also made the big leap since it can today be considered more than a smartphone – a pocket computer. The main reason for saying this is the fact that Apple opened its device to become some sort of a platform, rather than a device pre-packed with applications.

Software developers for the iPhone 3G also got their place on the web where they can sell their products. The App Store offers them the possibility to sell the software they have developed and users have an increasing variety of software to buy, download and install on their devices, according to their needs.

At this moment, games are the most numerous applications that one can purchase from App Store, more than 180 titles being already available. What is more, some of the industry’s giant companies such as Electronic Arts and Gameloft have announced their intention to develop some titles for the Apple device. The next most lucrative segment at this moment is the entertainment one, with about 130 applications ready for download.

Apple also improved the quality of the phone conversations made with its phone. The new iPhone 3G’s earpiece and speaker can be more easily heard than its predecessor, and the noise cancellation is also better. However, users might still have problems hearing when they are called by somebody, since the phone’s ring tones are still pretty quiet.
