Matthew McConaughey’s Mother Says Her Son Is Very Happy

Levi McConaughey, the son of Matthew McConaughey, 38, and girlfriend Camila Alves, 25, was born on July 6, at 6:22 p.m. in Los Angeles, the actor’s rep Alan Nierob confirmed to People.com. Of course the couple was very excited and happy about their baby boy. Matthew McConaughey said that he and his Brazilian model girlfriend were “stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God.”

His mother, Kay McConaughey said that his son was “over the moon,” reported E! Online. She also said that he loved children and he was there with Camila Alves, in the room, while she was giving birth.

“I think it's excellent that men are allowed in the room when women give birth. He loves Camila, but now he really sees how strong she is,” said the actor’s mother.

Regarding the name of the baby, she said it was a “strong” name.

“Levi McConaughey. That's no wimpy name,” said Kay McConaughey, according to E! Online.

The proud grandmother said she had a gift for the baby. She is planning to give Levi his father’s baby book, adding that it was a special and “one of a kind” present. She joked about his grandson not needing clothes, saying he only needed “flip-flops and a bathing suit,” reported E! Online.

Also, Matthew McConaughey’s brother Rooster said he was going to be a good father.

McConaughey and Camila Alves have been together for more than a year and a half. The actor announced in January that he was going to be a father. On an Oprah show in 2005, Matthew McConaughey said he had “always dreamed of having children,” even going as far as wishing for “14 or two.”
