Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed their daughter, whom they named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, on Monday. The baby girl weighed in 6lbs 7.5oz. The Academy Award-winning actress gave birth in Nashville, Tennessee, where the couple lives in a gated community.
The unusual name has sparked discussions and has attracted bashing from several journalists, who apparently would do anything to attract attention. These low blows are quite characteristic of the low level of morals in today's journalism, which lacks almost any deontology.
For example, a Washington Post blog bashes Kidman for "giving her baby a name that has more in common with a gardening calendar than a little human girl." MSNBC runs another piece which states the couple "re-opened the vault of bad celebrity baby names." The list of idiotic comments on the name of Sunday Rose Kidman Urban is almost endless.
It appears that today's celebrity parents should be the obedient subjects of the media, or so the latter thinks. Maybe they should have run a poll which would allow these smart-ass journalists to vote on a choice that is journalistically correct.
Nicole Kidman, a practicing Catholic, met country singer Keith Urban in 2005 at G'Day LA, an event honoring Australians. They wed in 2006 at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in the grounds of St Patrick's Estate, Manly in Sydney.
They went through a rough patch from the very beginning, as Urban had a relapse and entered a rehabilitation facility. The coupler managed to cope well with the situation though and Urban emerged a sensitive man, who did not shy from expressing his gratitude for Nicole Kidman’s love and support through the ordeal.
Nicole Kidman, 41, already has two children she and actor Tom Cruise adopted during their 10-year marriage. Isabella is 15, while Connor is 13. For Keith, 40, this is the first baby. The Academy Award winning actress and the Grammy Award winning singer married in June 2006, having begun their romantic relationship a year earlier. Nicole has been open about her desire to have a child for a long time now.
Urban posted a message on his website Monday, announcing, “Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.” He thanked everyone who “has kept [them] in their thoughts and prayers” and said he and Kidman felt “very blessed and grateful” to share the joy with everyone.
